ORIGIN.
In response
to the near-pariah status Nigeria had attained, globally,
with regards to issues of illicit dug trafficking and the
growing incidents of substance abuse locally, a group of Nigerian
professionals in August, 1995, opted to congregate and undertake
private-sector interventions in a bid to stem, and ultimately
eradicate the twin societal scourges of Ignorance and Substance
abuse.
People
Against Drug Dependence & Ignorance is thus a manifestation
of ideas, cultivated and nurtured by professionals in diverse
fields of learning with a commitment towards the eradication
of Substance abuse and Ignorance.
PADDI
is duly registered under Nigerian laws as a not-for-profit
non governmental organization (Certificate Number 10,610 of
27th September 1997).
PADDI,
a grassroot oriented organization, focuses its activities
on the youth, who constitute the most impressionable segment
of our society and thus highly susceptible to negativism.
Transforming such youths into fully participating members
of their communities is thus a cardinal goal of PADDI
VISION
A
society where decisions, actions and thoughts whether at the
individual or collective, policy formulation or implementation
levels, are formed by enlightened and knowledgeable application
of facts as opposed to ‘ignorance’.
